Safe Redbirds App

The Safe Redbirds App is Illinois State University’s official safety app and is available in the Apple and Google Play stores. This app may be used as a resource to help keep you safe as you walk around campus, work from any campus building late at night, or receive campus emergency alerts. This app is available for use by parents of  ISU students to keep up with any emergency alerts issued for campus.


Key Features: 

  • Emergency Guides - Guidelines provided to help prepare you to respond in the event of an emergency. 
  • Virtual Blue Light - This function calls and send yours current device location to a University Police Officer. 
  • Redbird Safe Walks - Gives options for Redbird Safe Walk, Virtual Safe Walk, and Virtual Friend Walk. More information for these options can be found in the app. 
  • Social Escapes - This feature allows you to get out of a tough social situation by calling you and giving you an excuse to leave. 
  • Maps and Transport - Shows various important locations on campus pertaining to transportation and safety. 
  • Support Resources - Links to various support resources available on campus. 
  • Safety Toolbox -  Tips to enhance your safety
  • Make a Report -  Links to different resources where you can make specific reports. 
  • Pawfficer Sage - Information on the University Police Outreach Dog.
  • Social Media Accounts -  ISU Police and Safe Redbirds Social Media links.
  • Alerts, Updates -  ISU emergency Alerts and Updates across campus. 
  • About, Preferences - Redbird Safe App preferences/options.
